ABOUT NATIONAL DOG DAY

Founded in 2004 by Animal Welfare Advocate and Pet Lifestyle Expert,
Colleen Paige, National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, mixed and pure and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues.
National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy.

We can't truly celebrate this year as we normally do, with so much tragedy and heartache occurring in the U.S. and beyond, without at least acknowledging the precious lives that have been lost to so much unnecessary violence and Covid-19. Our hearts are with those of you who are grieving. There's not a dry eye on our team, due to the excruciating pain being experienced in people's lives today. For whatever it's worth, we send all of you who are suffering, our deepest condolences and our sincere love.

3 year old American Staffordshire mix. She is an energetic girl who loves to play fetch, especially with her foster sister. She is currently living with other small dogs and cats. She would do best in a family with another dog but without children. She does not do well with cats. She is a huge snuggle bug and loves to sprawl on top of you for naps and cuddles. She needs a single family home since she’s part pittie, & cannot go to a home in a city or county that has breed restrictions.

Camella is a sweet and gentle, 6ish year old Doberman mix. She is friendly with dogs, new people, and loves kids. Although a bit timid at the start, she warms up with time & likes to give kisses. Her favorite thing is take walks & keep an eye out for bunnies. She loves ear scratches, peanut butter & bacon! Camella is housebroken. She is unsure of the crate and will go in if necessary, but she does great sleeping in her dog bed at night.

Ellie is a sweet, easy-going 7 year old pittie girl. Ellie spent a month training how to be a perfect girl. She is house trained, walks great on a leash, knows how to properly meet new dogs, and does amazing outside of the kennel on her own. Ellie loves cuddling, going on walks & watching tv! She gets along with male dogs and loves to play. She needs to be in a single family home since she is part pittie & can't go to a home in a city or county that has breed restrictions.

Meet unique and glamorous Ursula! She is a young, quiet, and sweet husky mix waiting for her forever family. The only noise she will make is barking when playing. If you scratch her neck around the collar, she's in heaven and will paw at you for more. She is great with adults and older kids, and would do best as an only dog. (We added this based on what we saw at photoshoot)
Ursula is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, and fully ready to love on her new family!!!

Crissy is a loyal and affectionate 8 yr. old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is ready to hike, walk, or snuggle on the couch. Does great with people and older kids. Crissy does well playing with other dogs with proper introduction. She does ok with cats & is even a bit submissive to them. She is heartworm positive which is NOT contagious. The rescue covers the cost of treatment! Needs to be in a single family home since part pittie, can't go to a home in a county that has breed restrictions.

I’m a 3 year old pittie mix. I love cuddles, belly rubs, naps, treats & toys. I love people & enjoy playing with my foster sisters, both Chihuahua/terrier mixes. I’m choosy with my fur friends; needing slow introductions. I’d love to join a family that will give me exercise & continue training. I’m housebroken, know “sit & stay” & can be left alone. I need to be in a single family home since I am part pittie, I cannot go to a home in a city or county that has breed restrictions.

Starlett is a 2 years old husky mix who absolutely loves going on walks & being with her people. While Starlett is shy and takes a little bit to warm up, she does well with people and other dogs. She has not been around kids or cats while with her foster family. She is mostly house trained. She is working on her leash manners & learning new skills. She likes treats & would love to continue learning new things! Since she is a husky mix, she needs a 6 ft fenced in yard and an active family.

I’m a young chocolate lab mix. Just gave birth to 9 pups, so I’m looking for my own sweet home. I’m very good with other dogs & people. I pull a bit on my leash but am working on that. I’m house trained & I like going on rides & playing catch. I’m heartworm positive but it is NOT contagious. The rescue covers the cost of treatment. I need to be in a single family home since I’m part pittie, I cannot go to a home in a city or county that has breed restrictions.
