FURocious will

{STOP
MOTION POETRY}
This
Northern California-based quartet,
formed in 2005 by brothers Clark and Devin Beggs (vocals and piano, and
bass), has gained attention by crafting songs based on their personal
experiences and the lives of the people close to them. With emotionally
intense live performances and Clark's hypnotic voice, SMP attracted
drummer Ian Stambaugh and guitarist Eli Lester who soon joined, completing
the bands lineup. SMP has teamed up with co-writer and legendary producer,
Mikal Blue, whose most recent contribution to the music world is his
production of Colbie Caillait's platinum CD Coco, including other
artists such as, One Republic, Five For Fighting, Augustana, Brendan
James, Jason Reeves and Carrie Underwood. Stop Motion Poetry's new EP
will be available for purchase at FURocious. For more info on SMP...check

{STACY
CLARK } is an independent
singer/songwriter. She carefully crafts each song with honest, heartfelt
lyrics that she writes about life. Her music clashes folk with
electronics. She likes to refer to is as 'folka'. Clark has shared the
stage with The New Amsterdams, Jacks Mannequin, Tom from the Plain White
Tees, and Copeland among other artists. Her music has been featured on the
MTV and CBS television networks. Awards include: Winner of the 2007 Orange
County Music Awards for 'Best Female Performer', 'Best Out of County'
artist at both the 2006/2007 Inland Empire Music Awards, 'Best Female
Artist' 2006 Southern California Music Awards, and nominee at the Toronoto
Independent Music Awards for 'Best International Artist'. Most recently,
Stacy's music has been a frequent "treat to the ears" repeat, on MTV's
"The Hills", CW's "Girlfriends and soon to be all Sephora Make-up Stores
Worldwide.
Stacy is an animal lover
through and through....so much so, that she adopted a white terrier mix at
the 2007 National Dog Day event in Los Angeles where she was performing,
naming him "Ollie". As a testament to being a responsible pet owner,
Stacy, unaware that Ollie was deathly ill when she adopted him, spent her
first couple months with him, nursing him back to health. Her current
album, "Apples & Oranges" is available
here and will also
be available at FURocious.
{CALLING
WENDY} is an
exciting new band based in Toronto, Canada. Reminiscent of an updated
Fleetwood Mac, they draw on a grab-bag of diverse musical influences,
mixing everything from Blondie to The Cars to Patty Griffin and Lucinda
Williams. Signed to Universal with MAdE in 1996, the band released two
albums with Universal, before leaving the label after the Universal/Polygram
merger. The band disbanded in 2002, leaving Alison, the Calling Wendy's
founder, to search for a new musical direction. A drummer throughout her
early career, Alison began writing her own songs. With no expectation, she
submitted a demo version of her song “Tennessee” to the MIX 99.9 Standard
Radio Songwriting Competition in Canada. To her complete surprise, the
song won the Regional competition, and then won the National competition.
“Tennessee” then went on to place second in the prestigious Unisong
International Songwriting Contest in the AAA category, cementing Alison’s
reputation as a songwriter to watch.
{SELENA
GARCIA} With a
diverse heritage that includes Mexican, German, French and Italian,
Singer/Songwriter Selena Garcia’s unique sound is no less of a musical
amalgam. Part jazz, part soul, with a smattering of blues, a splash of
rock and an infusion of funk, her eclectic style portrays an artistry not
commonly found in music today. Soulful songwriting, a youthful
fearlessness and an absolute passion for all genres of music reveal
influences including legendary chanteuse Etta James, the late vocalist Eva
Cassidy and contemporaries like Fiona Apple while also forging new ground
of her own.
Selena’s live shows allow the inspired
songstress to groove with remarkably talented musicians who share her
vision. Her effortless stage presence enables her to go where the music
takes her while the audience enthusiastically goes along for the ride. Her
songs “Drive to Love” and the blues-inspired “Another Day” have found
their way to independent radio stations across the country broadening her
fan-base even further. Recently, Selena was honored as one of the “Hot 100
Unsigned Artists” in Music Connection Magazine (Dec. 2006) and was honored
to perform at their “Best Kept Secrets Industry Showcase” that same year.
With comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Fiona Apple she is flattered to be
mentioned in their company but remains focused on her individuality. “The
hardest part is taking risks and making music that comes from my heart,
while also connecting to a fan base,” she says. “It all comes down to the
cathartic release and enjoyment I get out of each song”.
Raised in Northern California, Seattle, Washington and Juneau, Alaska,
Selena’s love of music and keen practicality led her to Cal State Chico
where she graduated with a BA in Music Business, while continuing her
pursuits as a singer in the A Capella and Jazz choirs. Possessing a solid
understanding of both the creativity and commerce of the music industry,
Selena stands firmly entrenched in the L.A. music scene, well-prepared for
the challenge of making her mark as a singer, songwriter and recording
artist.
{STARRYVILLE}
Alexes, PJ, Arnaud and Matt hail
from Northern Virginia, mythical Missouri, and even far-flung France...
but Washington D.C. brought them together to create the kind of music
everyone needs…pure, raw musical energy... collectively influenced by
retro, modern and alternative rock sounds… Do not look for them in one
tiny box.
The music is described as accessible, catchy and radio friendly, but still
on the edge. Their songs interpret modern reality, with surreal elements
lurking at the fringes. Starryville strives to pull something beautiful
from the accumulated chaos of modern life and from their own individual
life stories. Somewhat cryptic, but always in touch with the truth, their
sound evokes a theme, a color and a flavor that is unique, but still
attracting music fans across many genres.
Starryville has been playing in the DC/NOVA/MD area regularly over the
past 2 years supplying accessible, entertaining and original music to
their fans. They have been seen at such notable venues as Iota Club and
Cafe, Jammin’ Java and TT Reynold’s …among others. Continually focused on
spreading their music as far as possible, Starryville's pulse quickening
live performances and grass roots marketing allowing them to reach fans
globally. A recent blog written in tribute to their beloved family dog is
what brought FURocious to their door. "I read the tribute on their Myspace
page and was really touched" said Colleen Paige, founder of the concert
tour and the Animal Miracle Foundation. "I just loved their music and knew
that they would be the kind of musicians I was looking for to be part of
this project".
More to come... so stay
tuned!
