Trails 'n' Tails: In honor of National Dog Day, the Santa Barbara Botanic
Garden invites people to bring their on-leash dogs to the site for
activities including a "Who's That Doggie in the Meadow" photo contest,
snacks, a canine caricature artist, giveaways, dog care demonstrations and
products for sale. Visitors who bring dogs will receive $2 off admission.
The garden is always dog-friendly; visitors can bring pets on leashes at
any time. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 27, 1212 Mission Canyon Road, Santa

Benicia Main Street hosts its second "A Great Dog Day by the Bay" from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event includes a free disc-throwing
competition for dogs of all skill levels. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.
The tournament begins at 10:30. Among the activities are a dog contest for
ugliest, cutest and owner/dog look-alike. Contest entry fee is $5 per dog.
